AGNs in a Random Forest

Abstract: 

Active galactic nuclei (AGNs) are compact cores of active galaxies that are powered by the accretion of the central supermassive black holes (SMBHs). Building a large sample of AGNs is of great importance for a variety of astrophysical explorations, including defining the celestial reference frame, constraining the growth of SMBHs, and probing the history of reionization. In this talk, I will introduce a catalog of 2.7 million AGN candidates selected via a random forest classifier from two all-sky surveys: Gaia and WISE. Photometric redshifts of the AGN candidates are also derived by a random forest regressor. I will conclude by briefly discussing some potential applications of this AGN catalog.
