Abstract:
Binary star systems are progenitors of transients like supernovae (SNe), peculiar objects and gravitational wave sources. One of the crucial processes in the binary evolution is the common envelope evolution (CEE) which has the decisive role. In this talk, I will introduce my two works about two new stellar-core merger scenarios related with the CEE for producing SNe and peculiar neutron star (NS) objects. In the core-merger detonation scenario, the mergers between CO white dwarfs (WDs) and cores of nondegenerate companion stars during the CEE phase are studied as possible origins for type Ia and II SNe. The another scenario is the core-merger-induced collapse model which involves the mergers during the CEE phase of ONeMg WDs and cores of nondegenerate stars, leading to the formation of NS objects like pulsars, magnetars and Thorne-Zytkow objects.
