An X-ray View of Supernova Remnants
Speaker:Lei Sun (Nanjing University)
Venue:Video Conference
Time:12:30 PM, Monday, Dec. 5, 2022
Abstract:
A supernova remnant (SNR) represents the violent interaction between a supernova (SN) and its surrounding materials. The X-ray observations of SNRs provide us with unique perspectives not only on the remnants themselves, but also on the SN progenitor types, the SN explosion mechanisms, collisionless shock heating process, high-energy cosmic ray acceleration, and so on. In this talk, I will briefly introduce the general properties of the X-ray emission from SNRs and review our latest progress in the spatially-resolved high-resolution X-ray spectroscopic studies on SNRs.
