Probing quasar winds: implications from broad absorption line (BAL) variability
Speaker:Weimin Yi (Penn State University)
Venue:Room 2111, SWIFAR Building
Time:12:30 PM, Thursday, 7th November, 2019
Abstract:
Broad absorption line (BAL) quasars provide unambiguous evidence of AGN-driven outflows that may be capable of triggering AGN feedback. Despite the fact that the inner region of quasars cannot be spatially resolved with current technology, variability diagnostics allow us to probe BAL outflows. In this talk, I will introduce our previous and ongoing studies of BAL quasars, including some caveats and implications therein. I also look forward to possible collaborations in the future.
