Lunch talk on Jun. 17th, 2019
Some Research Frontiers of Asteroseismology
Speaker:Ming Yang (Nanjing University)
Venue:2317, SWIFAR Building
Time:12:30 PM, Monday, 17th June, 2019
Abstract:
Asteroseismology is the study of oscillations in stars. Because a star's different oscillation modes are sensitive to different parts of the star, they inform astronomers about the internal structure of the star. Asteroseismology needs stable and continuous observations. The CoRoT, Kepler and TESS satellites have greatly promoted the development of asteroseismology. In this talk, I will introduce some research frontiers of this field, including the binary stars containing solar-like pulsators, the asteroseismology of Delta Scuti pulsators, and the stellar surface-to-core rotation.
