Abstract:Supernovae are playing important role in the universe. Not only they help in chemical enrichment of galaxies, but have also helped discovering the accelerated expansion of the universe. Thousands of supernovae are added in the database and many more to discover with diverse properties. Understanding and characterizing supernovae from current and future surveys will be crucial for their origin and their role in the universe. In this talk, I will review supernova cosmology, discuss various surveys, and describe plans to improve them as distance indicators.
