2008.09 - 2014.11: Astrophysics, Ph. D. in Astrophysics, National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academic of Sciences

Thesis title: Formation and evolution of dark matter halos and galaxies
Experience:
2014.11 - Now: Postdoc in Astronomical Observatory of Trieste - INAF
Supervisor: Dr. Gabriella De Lucia
Brief Research Statement:
During my PhD, I have studied the assembly history of dark matter halos, the size evolution of massive elliptical galaxies, and the structure of cosmic voids. I use N-body dark matter simulations and semi-analytic models to analyse the evolution and formation of dark matter substructures and galaxies. As a post-doc, I have been working on improving a state of the art semianalytic-model(GAEA - Hirschman et al. 2016), focusing in particular on the adopted star formation law, galaxy disk, and black hole formation. I have implemented an explicit treatment of the partition of cold gas in atomic and molecular gas, as well as a star formation law based on the abundance of H2. I am currently exploring predictions of my model implementations, with a focus on size evolution of late-type galaxies and isotopes in ISM.
Research Interest:
Theoretical models of galaxy evolution and formation; Environment effects on galaxies; Evolution of size and density profiles of multi-phase gas disk.
